Fear of Fires on our Doorstep

Yesterday a fire that began at the far end of Moore Road, Sunbury quickly spread across the open grasses. The fire leaped the Calder Freeway, closing traffic in both directions between Gap Road and Vineyard Road. Fortunately the fire was brought under control with water bombing and well trained fire crews.

It was a wake up that we are on  a precipice of danger. The wind was blowing towards Diggers Rest and, with the extreme heat, it could have reached farmhouses or even the township within minutes. Stay alert and do not underestimate the dangers.

Did you see the fire and what did you do to protect yourself?
