Lions Van Stolen - A Great Loss For Diggers Rest

The Lions Club food van was stolen on the morning of Monday, 20 January 2014.

The van has been with the community for 20+ years. Thousands of donuts, hotdogs, pies and coffees were served throughout the years to raise over $100,000 for the town and people in need. The van is more than a tool of trade, it is a local icon that has sentimental value to many people around Diggers Rest. Folk have used the van to cater for parties and raise money for their own groups.

The Lions are very sorry to see their old friend taken in the brazen theft.

On Monday morning an eyewitness saw a young scruffy man driving a silver twin cab utility, with the food van in tow, towards Melbourne.  If you saw anything suspicious or believe that you could identify the criminal then call President Rob Mackay on 9740 0440 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000 crimestoppers.com.au.

The police are helping the Lions with the inquiries and hopefully more information will come to light today.
