Plumpton Fire 6 Hour Fight

Aircraft and ground crews worked for around six hours as a Plumpton fire burned in swampy grassland making access difficult. Smoke could be seen billowing over west Diggers Rest and Gisborne South until the CFA, MFB and DEPI crews stopped the 20 hectare burn.

The blaze has been contained to farmland and there are no homes under threat.

The CFA had to advise surrounding communities including: Rockbank, Sydenham West, Hillside, Plumpton, Taylors Hill, Ravenhall, Caroline Springs, Sydenham and Toolern Vale to stay informed and monitor the conditions while the fire was fought.

Crews and dozers will remain on scene for some time mopping up.
