Wolf Creek Desolation Games By Author Brett McBean

Brett McBean, from Sunbury, has written the prequel to Wolf Creek, titled 'Desolation Games.' News Limited chose a fitting backdrop to photograph Brett outside of the old Digger Rest petrol station.

The novel is the second installation of a proposed six book series planned to tell the tale of the frightening  Mick Taylor, who is loosely based on Ivan Milat and Peter Falconio's killer, Bradley John Murdoch. The story centres on Mick's early 20s when he fights in Vietnam, honing his skills as a killer. Later in the story he returns to outback Western Australia where a kombi load of tourists cross his path.

Brett McBean, is one of best thriller writers in Australia. Other novels he has written include: The Awakening, TormentThe Last Motel and The Mother. His books have been published in Australia, the US, and Germany, and he’s been nominated for the Aurealis, Ditmar, and Ned Kelly awards. He won the 2011 Australian Shadows Award for best collection (Tales of Sin and Madness). He is a member of the Australian Horror Writers Association, where he has been a member of the judging panel for the Australian Shadows Award (2008), the AHWA Flash & Short Story competition (2010) and a mentor in their mentor program

Desolation games was published by Penguin Books and is available to purchase in book stores and online.

On Saturday, 1st February 4pm, Brett will be signing books at: Notions Unlimited Bookshop, 426 Nepean Hwy, Chelsea. He says that he couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of this iconic Oz Horror film series, and I hope readers will embrace these original novels.

The Desolation Games movie is planned for release on the 20 February 2014.
