In 2011, Diggers Rest had the highest proportion of people who volunteer in the City of Melton.
The 2011 census asked the question, ‘In the last twelve months did you spend any time doing voluntary work through an organisation or group?’ 24% of the town gave a resounding answer of, "Yes." In other words almost 1 in 4 people contributed something towards the community.

Unpaid volunteers are often the glue that holds a community
together. It is one of the best ways for people to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships. Volunteering
also strengthens ties to the community and helps new residents to integrate into a town.
Congratulations Diggers Rest. You deserve it!
